Construction: The Madeleine socks are worked in the round from the cuff down to the toe. The work begins with a delicate ruffled border. The leg is in ribbing and incorporates a stockinette section for embroidering a motif in duplicate stitch or sewing on a charm. The heel is then shaped using short rows, preceded by a few increases for extra comfort. The leg and foot are easily adjusted to the desired length. Finally, the knitting ends with a completely invisible finish at the toe using the grafting technique.

Required supplies:

• Yarn: Sock yarn, 75% wool, 25% biodegradable nylon (420 m / 100 g): a single ball of sock yarn is enough to knit a pair of socks, regardless of the size chosen. If you wish to make a contrasting ruffled border and contrasting embroidery, allow for 10 to 15 g (approx. 50 m.) of identical contrasting yarn.
• Circular needles - 2.5 mm with a 55 or 60 cm cable to knit the ruffled border and the toes. They will also allow you to knit using the magic-loop method. - 2.5 mm short (5 cm) with a 13 cm cable to knit without magic-loop.
• 2 stitch markers
• Tapestry needle to weave in ends at the end of the work

Gauge: 35 sts x 42 rows = 10 x 10 cm in 3/1 ribbing with 2.5 mm needles
