Hazel Transforms into a Peter Pan Collar Shirt Dress (Free Download Collar)

Because Hazel is one of our iconic patterns, a chic basic that you love to sew and wear, we wanted to bring it back to the forefront by offering you a brand new variation: a shirt dress with an ultra-feminine Peter Pan collar . We explain in detail how to make this variation from your pattern in the rest of the article!

TUTORIAL N°1: EXTEND YOUR SHIRT INTO A DRESS

TUTORIAL N°2: SEWING THE PETER PAN COLLAR

To add a Peter Pan collar to your Hazel shirt, you will need to follow the assembly steps for option B (without collar) but insert the collar before attaching your neckline bias.

Step 1 : Iron on one of the two collars. Place the two collars right sides together. Pin along the outer edge and sew 1 cm apart with a straight stitch. Trim the seam allowance by a few millimetres and notch in the curves before turning the collar right side out. Iron it carefully.

Step 2 : Pin the Peter Pan collar to the right side of the dress, along the neckline, using the notches as a guide. The iron-on piece should be placed against the dress. Sew a support seam 0.5 cm from the edge.

Step 3 : Then place the bias binding over the collar following the instructions given for option B in the Hazel pattern booklet.
